A pair of parallel terraces, Nos 1-7 on the east, Nos 8-12 on
the west side. Nos 1-9 are houses, Nos 10-12 form part of the
Blackfriars Art Centre. Early C18, altered C19 and C20. Red
brick in Flemish bond, pantile roofs with part tumbling to
brick coped gables, 3 ridge and simple gable stack to east
block, 2 ridge and single gable to the west block.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attics. 7-bay east block, arranged
with 3 groups having a pair of doors, flanked by a single
window, each with a window directly above, and a further
single window to each floor at the left-hand end.
The entrance to No.1 is in the northern gable end. 6 attic
dormers. 5-bay east block, arranged with 2 groups as the west
block, and a further single window to each floor and a doorway
at the right-hand end. Between the right-hand end windows is a
blocked doorway. 5 attic dormers. Windows are all glazing bar
sashes with segmental brick heads. All doors are C19 6-panel
with lower flush panels and 3-pane overlights. Dormers are
2-light Yorkshire sashes with segmental lead roofs and lead or
brick cheeks. Linking the 2 terraces at the south end is a
tall garden wall to Fydell house with 3 arched doorways. The
houses have single-storey outshuts to rear.
