Details
TQ 1977 KEW RAILWAY BRIDGE
787/18/10048 II
Railway bridge. Designed in 1864 by W R Galbraith and opened in 1869. Lattice girder bridge supported on 4 pairs of iron piers in three stages, a round base carrying a drum with 4 engaged column and, above track level, a tabernacle with an arched roof carried on paired columns framing an elaborate cast iron screen. Shore ends have a red brick part with stone dressings and arched entrances with stone bands and pilasters. Part is in the London Borough of Richmond. (qv.)
