5/35 The Hill House
- II
Public House. C17 rear wing, now altered, early C18 front range, also
altered. Colourwashed flint and bricks with pantiled roofs. L plan. 2
storey rear wing of whole flints with extension constructed against north
wall. Scattered fenestration. South wall hidden by 3 storey hipped structure
(Cliff Top House). Gabled roof. 2 off ridge stacks on opposing slopes.
Front range of one storey and dormer attic in 3 bays. Central door flanked
by one late C20 tripartite sash left and right below segmental arch. Above
openings are 3 through-eaves dormers with C20 sashes under gabled roofs.
Dentil eaves cornice. Gabled roof, hipped to south. Northern gable end stack.
Interior retains fireplace to this stack and a further fireplace at the south
end of the east wall. South half with spine beam, northern half with bridging
beams, all chamfered and with run-out stops. Plain joists.
