1880. W Talbot Brown, 3 storeys in ashlar, ground floor painted. Moulded parapet.
supported on brackets at quoins. Middle section has 2 hoods on brackets over
round-arched windows. End sections break forward slightly, chanelled rustication.
4 windows to top floor, round arches, sashes without glazing bars, each with iron
balcony on brackets. Band continues cills of centre section. On the 1st floor,
the 2 outer windows have broken pediments with swags, The 2 Inner windows have
segmental pediments and iron balconies, 2 doorways at ends with broken pediments
on grooved brackets. Grooved keystones with swags. Double doors of 8 carved panels,
in architrave of pilasters with carved ornament, 2 round-arched windows with keystones
with anthemion, divided by pilaster with non-classical capital. Carved squinches.
Nos 53 to 59 (consec), Nos 61 to 65 (consec) & Nos 68 to 73 (consec) form a group.
