BEDINGHAM UPGATE STREET TM 29 SE 5/17 Barn & attached outbuildings immediately north of Forsters Farmhouse
GV II
Former threshing barn and outbuildings. Early C17. Timber frame clad in tarred weatherboarding on brick plinth. Steeply pitched roofs of pantiles and corrugated iron sheet; roof hipped at north-east angle. L-shaped on plan. Barn aligned east-west: 3-stead with double doors off-centre in south wall. Stable door at south-west corner: first floor inserted at west end. Arch- braced tie beams on jowled principal posts. Roof has clasped upper and butted lower purlins; windbraces to upper purlin. Lower range to east, of four structural bays: arch-braced tie beams on jowled posts, corner braces to wall studs. Roof structure much repaired and replaced.
