WOLVERLEY & COOKLEY CP LEA LANE (north side) SO 84 80 Cookley 13/141 Church of St Peter - II Parish church. 1849, by E Smith, enlarged 1872 by J T Meredith. Brick with stone dressings and slate roof. West tower, nave, chancel, north and south aisles. West tower: four stages divided by moulded string courses, with angle buttresses and crenellated parapet. Belfry has large trefoiled lancets in deep chamfered reveals; second stage has square headed 2-light window. First stage has a window of three trefoiled lights under a 2- centred head. North aisle: five bays, second from right has gabled stone porch, windows are of two trefoiled lights under 2-centred heads with labels; clerestory has quatrefoil windows. Chancel of two bays, to right a vestry; east window of three trefoiled lights under a 2-centred head. Interior: reported to have box pews with poppy heads. (BoE, p124).
