LEASINGHAM SLEAFORD ROAD TF 04 NE (east side) 8/46 The Manor (formerly listed 1.2.67 as Leasingham House) GV II* Small country houses. c1750 with late C18 and C19 alterations. Coursed lime- stone rubble, ashlar and red brick with ashlar and brick dressings. Slate roofs with a single ridge and 3 gable moulded ashlar stacks. Ashlar coped gables with moulded cornice L-plan. 2 storey plus attic. South, garden front of 5 bays. Ashlar with rusticated quoins, ground and first floor moulded cill bands, and dentilated cornice, with coped parapet. Central doorway, with C19 double glazed doors in moulded ashlar surround with double keystone, plus outer surround of Tuscan Doric pilasters with entablature and pediment above. Either side are 2 glazing bar sashes, in rusticated Gibb's surrounds with triple keystones. Above 5 glazing bar sashes in moulded and eared ashlar surrounds topped with pediments. Above again, in the parapet 3 oval openings with moulded ashlar surrounds with keystones. 3 dormer windows are set well back behind the parapet. West street front of 5 bays, with lower rubble walling and upper brick walling. The 3 southern bays have a rubble eaves band and ashlar quoins. Main doorway to the right with a six panel door and an ornate elliptical fanlight, with iron quatrefoil columned porch with flat hood. To the left another door with 6 panel, part glazed door, with ashlar wedge lintel with keystone. To the left again a single glazing bar sash with an ashlar wedge lintel with keystone. Above 3 glazing bar sashes in plain raised ashlar surrounds with linking cill band. The 2 northern bays are set back slightly and a hipped roof, to the left a door- way with plank door under rubble segment head, and to the right 2 glazing bar sashes, under brick segment heads. Above 2 glazing bar sashes to the eaves. Interior: Has original staircase, single flight return with 3 turned balusters per head, and plaster ceiling. Drawing room has wooden dado panelling with plaster panelling above, with wooden overmantle plus plaster ceiling with later additions. Dining room has some original panelling. Upstairs 2 rooms with some panelling and 2 original fireplaces. The internal arrangement of this house was altered, probably in the late C18.
