GV II
Pair of houses, now offices. Early C19, partly rebuilt after
bomb damage. Slate roof. 3 storeys in 5 bays with an
additional narrow bay to south over the carriage arch (Row
108). 6-window range in all. Centre 3 bays recessed. Outer
bays with recessed round arches to ground floor containing a
C20 door to No.23 and a 6/6 unhorned sash to No.24. Between
are 2 similar sashes and a C20 door to No.24. All sashes have
gauged skewback arches. 5 French windows to first floor with
cast-iron balconies. South side bay with a 4/4 sash. Second
floor with five 6/3 sashes, the south side bay again with a
4/4 sash. Wide eaves cornice with mutules. Gabled roof. North
gable is shaped and rebuilt mid C20 in white brick.
Full-height rear wing lit through sashes under a hipped C20
pantile roof.
INTERIOR: No.23 has a petal fanlight over the inner door and a
boarded staircase with a ramped handrail. No.24 has some mid
C20 panelling.
No.23 first listed on 5 August 1974.
