Small Anglican church. Foundation by C12, with some C12 work probably remaining in south nave wall; chancel altered C13, tower added by C14 and raised probably in C15; chancel rebuilt 1841 and lengthened by one bay in 1879; north east corner of aisle and south east vestry added 1955. Random coursed limestone rubble with coursed and squared stone to west end of nave and north aisle; dressed stone tower on chamfered base plinth; stone slate roof with coped verges. PLAN: Nave with large north aisle with 4 small gabled bays, south porch and transeptal tower to south, chancel with small south east vestry and north east aisle extension. EXTERIOR: Chancel has 3-light east window and paired lancets to south, both of 1841. Tower of 2 stages with stringcourse, stepped diagonal buttresses on lower stage, embattled parapet with gargoyles, polygonal north west stair vice and turret with weathervane; south side has 2-light C19 Decorated-style window to lower stage, single small lancet and sundial above stringcourse; 2-light trefoil-headed belfry louvres to each face with clockface to north. South porch of C14 has stepped hollow-moulded pointed arch with large coped gable and small diagonal buttresses. South wall of nave has C19 buttresses and two 2-light square-headed Perpendicular windows, the one to east with some C15 fabric. 4-bay north aisle has similar fenestration. 3-light Decorated-style west window. INTERIOR: porch has low stone side seats, trefoiled stoup to east and arch-braced collar truss roof with moulded collar purlin. Chancel has double piscina on south wall with small central Purbeck shaft and trefoil hoods. Base of tower used as Baptistery with squint through tower arch to chancel and Perpendicular octagonal font with quatrefoil panelling. 3-bay plastered chancel roof with moulded ribs set on engaged shafts. Nave has arch-braced roof on corbels, some of medieval date; late C19 pulpit and lectern; semi-circular topped pews, c1840 and of grained deal. 4-bay north arcade with octagonal piers in Early English style. Monuments include marble memorial in north east aisle to Robert (the elder) and George Holford (died 1839) by R. Westmacott the younger, and fine alabaster recumbent effigy on tomb chest with cusped canopy of Robert Staynor Holford, died 1892, possibly by W.S. Frith. Nave with large north aisle with 4 small gabled bays; south porch and transeptal tower, chancel with small south east vestry and north east aisle extension. Nave has 2-light Perpendicular windows with square hoodmould, 4-bay north arcade in Early English style and arch- braced collar beam roof. Chancel has 3-light east window with flowing tracery, double piscina on south wall with small central Purbeck shaft and trefoil hoods. Base of tower used as Baptistery with squint through tower arch to chancel and Perpendicular octagonal font with quatrefoil panelling. Marble monument to Robert (the elder) and George Holford (died 1839) in north east aisle by R. Westmacott the younger, and alabaster recumbent effigy on tomb chest with cusped canopy of Robert Stayner Holford, died 1892, possibly by W.S. Frith.
