Former Stamford East Railway Station. 1856 designed by William Hurst for
the Stamford and Essendine private railway company. Converted into two houses.
Ashlar. Jacobean style. Two storeys. Three bays. The two gabled wings with
screen between slightly projects at centre with round arched carriageway and
mullion/transom dummy window above. This centre piece has pierced parapet
with carved stone coat of arms at centre and corbelled pinnacles. The slightly
advanced wings have shaped gables also with corbelled pinnacles and finials
and carved stone cartouches in the gables.
Two-light stone mullion/transom windows. Three storey square tower at the
rear south-east corner. Ashlar chimney stacks with paired shafts. Brick
train shed behind.
Originally the booking hall was situated behind the central screen.
