HEIGHINGTON MILL LANE TF 0270-0370 10/49 The Hermitage and attached garden wall and gates

GV II

House. Late C18, remodelled early C19. Coursed limestone rubble with slate roofs and 6 brick gable stacks. Double range plan. 2 storey. South front colourwashed, central 2 storey porch with a pair of half-glazed margin light doors, and single round headed side lights. Eitherside a single square bay windows, each with 2 pairs of french windows with overlights. Above, porch has a round headed Y tracery sash, and single round headed side lights. Eitherside single 2-light casements with unusual margin light glazing. Set back side wing has C20 windows and attached lean-to conservatory, with above 2 round headed Y tracery sashes. Attached at north-east corner a 3 m high rubble stone wall, with a 4 panel door in wooden pedimented surround. To the left a 2 panel door in wooden pedimented surround with scroll brackets. Wall extends 20 m south, with pantile coping, then a pair of brick gatepiers with iron spear head gates. 2 m high wall extends for 17 m to south.
