- Causeway at
Letheringham Old Hall
G.V. II
Causeway carrying drive across a moat. C15 or C16. Brick, mostly header
bond, with some C18 or C19 patching in random bond brick. Solid walling to
the lower body without any archway and C19 brick coping to the top. The
north face appears to have the remains of a polygonal buttress to its right
hand side. The south face is similar save for the absence of the polygonal
buttress and some patching in white brick. Adjoining the causeway and
running south along the western bank is a revetment of C15 or C16 date.
This has the base of a polygonal projection at far left, some cement-
rendered. Shoring buttresses at right, a further projecting portion of
ashlar at right again, (possibly the base of a garderobe tower) and a
stretch of patched brick walling at right again.
