Coaching inn. Early C18, re-skinned to facade 1878. Flint with brick dressings. Painted gault brick facade. Pantile roof. Facade of 2 storeys and dormer attic but indeterminate number of bays. 4 doorways, 3 under C20 gabled hoods. Towards right (north) end is a tall square-headed carriageway to rear, lined with flint. Ground-floor fenestration consists of one C20 casement right of carriageway, and to left two 2-light cross casements and 4 sashes with 6/6 glazing bars and no horns. First floor has one unhorned and 3 horned 6/6 sashes. To extreme north (right) is a C18 two-light casement. Secondary casement over carriageway. Gabled roof with 2 flat-topped dormers. 3 gault brick ridge stacks. Rear with contemporary outshut. Mixed fenestration includes two C18 three-light casements (ground floor), one swivel window and one horizontal-sliding sash (first floor). Inserted doors and C20 windows. 2 additional stacks to outshut.
INTERIOR: chamfered bridging beams to ground floor, boxed bridging beams at first floor. Some 2-panel doors, and a plank door to attic. C18 roof of commons only, lower tier of through purlins, upper tier of purlins clasped by C20 plank collars.
