TYNEMOUTH UNION ROAD (east side, off) NZ 3668 NW and NZ 3668 SW 13/135 and 15/135 Clifford's Fort south and east wall facing river. G.V. II* Fort wall. 1672. Sandstone ashlar. Tapered nosed wall with gun embrasures. Built just before the outbreak of the Dutch War. Source: H.E. Craster History of Northumberland, vol. VIII The Parish of Tynemouth, 1907. 182,200,276. Partly obscured by later buildings; partly obscured by building work in progress at time of survey. A scheduled ancient monument.
