The Lodge

House c1800. Whitewashed brick south facade. Flint with brick dressed returns and rere. Black glased pantiled roof. Two storey U plan farmhouse in Samuel Wyatt Holkham estate style, now divided into cottages. South front with central bay broken forward. Ground floor outer bays with tripartite sashes recessed under semi-circular brick arches, to north plate glass to south retaining glazing bars. One C19 plate glass sash. Central porch with thin wooden columns with capitals and entablature all of Greek Doric derivation. Recessed 4 panelled door, 2 panels glazed. First floor 4 plate glass sash windows. Prominent Tuscan eaves with paired modillions. Shallow hipped roof with 2 stacks on ridges. To east 3 bay return with 4 sashes with glazing bars and 2 plate glass sashes. Brick and flint north extension with 2 plate glass sashes. West return with 4 sashes with glazing bars, and to courtyard formed by 2 north wings a tripartite sash with glazing bars under semi-circular arch. Modillion cornice runs round whole building.
