Details

SOUTH WITHAM HIGH STREET SK 91 NW (south side) 9/145 Nos. 39 and 41 II Formerly one house, now divided into two houses. C17, with c.1800 and minor C20 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with large ashlar quoins and dressings, pantile roof with one stone coped gable, 2 C20 gable and single ridge red brick stacks. 2 storey with garret, 4 bay front, the left hand bay is recessed, the second bay from left is slightly recessed and separately gabled. 2 C20 half glazed doors, under timber lintels have to left a 2 light mullioned window and a 3 light glazing bar casement and to right a 2 light sliding sash. To first floor are 2 three light glazing bar casements and a 2 light sliding sash and a 2 light mullioned window, in the garret a similar blocked window. In the left hand side front is a blocked 4 centred arched opening and single 3 light mullioned windows to each floor. All mullioned windows have cavetto moulded mullions, cornices and leaded lights. Interior has chamfered beams with shield shaped stops.
