WOODHURST CHURCH STREET 1. 5140 (north side) Church of St John the Baptist (formerly listed as Chapel of St John the Baptist) TL 37 NW 4/25 30.5.58 II* 2. Small parish church of late C12 nave, mid C13 south arcade, late C14 south aisle, C17 bell turret and C19 chancel. Pebble-rubble with some freestone and Barnack stone dressings. C17 west bell tower incorporated into west bay of nave. Timber-framed with shingles as casing. Pyramidal roof with framing of turret exposed at eaves. C15 west window of three cinquefoil lights with vertical tracery in two-centred head with moulded reveals and label. Nave roof tiled and leaded. Clerestory has two C19 three-light windows in square heads to each side. Late C14 south aisle. Roof leaded. Three windows, each of two cinquefoil lights with vertical tracery in two-centred head. One similar window to east wall. South doorway in two-centred head of two moulded orders. Two chamfered orders to jambs. C19 south porch, gabled. C19 chancel. Gault brick. Fishscale pattern tiled roof with fleur de lys ridge tiles. North wall of nave has one C14. window of two trefoil lights with ogee tracery in square head with moulded label. Late C12 north doorway. Round arch with chamfered label and jambs. Nave of four bays. Two centred arches of two chamfered orders carried on cylindrical columns with moulded capitals and bases. East respond has moulded corbel with mask stop carrying inner order of arch. West respond has attached semi-octagonal shaft with moulded capital. Roof of nave modern with C15 moulded tie beams. C13 Font. Stone. Octagonal bowl on octagonal stem. Chamfered base. Four early C16 bench ends with poppyhead finials. (Rcllbi Huntingdonshire p 295).
