HYDE HIGHAM LANE SJ 99 SE (south-west side) 7/22 Holy Trinity Church - II

Church. 1873-4 by Medland and Henry Taylor, tower added 1903. Rock-faced stone, ashlar dressings and slate roof. Nave with porch, west tower, north transept, chancel, vestry and organ chamber. The 3-bay nave has stone quoins, weathered buttresses, single, double and triple-lancet window and a porch in bay 1. All the gables have pierced bargeboards. 3-stage west tower with stone bands, paired lancet belfry openings, clock faces, a castellated parapet, angled buttresses and large octagonal corner pinnacles. 3- light east window with plate tracery. Interior: tripartite chancel arch, the outer arches being smaller, one giving access to the pulpit. Heavy roof trusses with scissor braces to nave and arch braces to chancel the latter supported on small timber colonnettes. Stained glass.
