Public House. C17, Timber frame, with C18 recladding and extension, and with a tall late C19 extension. Front walls of stucco, plinth, moulded 1st floor bands to the C19 block: the wings have walls of painted brickwork, with a small area of exposed frame: the rear gables are tile-hung above brickwork Tile roof, with gables, hips and half-hips, the older part with wrought-iron eaves brackets. A coaching inn, of many phases, with irregular arrangement of wings and extensions. The north front elevation of two storeys has a projecting wing at the west side, continued as a (C19) symmetrical and taller facade, 4.2.3. windows. Upper casements, ground-floor sashes. Older doorway with pedi- ment on brackets, architrave, and glazed doors: the other is similar with a cornice. The east elevation is mainly a rear wing of stables, now converted, of two storeys, 2 above 5 windows. The rear elevation to the old part comprises three gables, (the largest in the centre), with older casements and sashes, and a C20 brick porch; this elevation being flanked by the service wings.
