BEIGHTON CHURCH HILL TG 30 NE 3/14 Church of All Saints, 25.9.62. Beighton. I Parish church. Fabric mainly C14 and C15 with C19 restoration which included the rebuilding of the north aisle (1854) and the upper stage of the west tower (1882) by A.S. Hewitt. Flint with limestone dressings; red brick east wall to nave. Nave roof thatched, all other roofs slated. West tower, nave, chancel, north and south aisles, south porch, north vestry. Square west tower with staged buttresses, partly rebuilt in brick. C19 Decorated bell openings with pierced stone screens. Stepped parapet of stone with flushwork panels dated 1890. Castellated corner piers with figure-pinnacles. Polygonal stair turret on south side. Single light west window. Windows generally C19 replacements in Decorated style. Nave clerestorey of three 2-light windows with eaves swept over window heads. Three 2-light windows in north and south aisles. South nave and aisle walls in flushwork. Three 2-light north and south chancel windows, bays divided by staged buttresses with gabled tops. C14 priest's door in south wall with head-stops to hood mould. 4-light east window. Former north porch now vestry with diagonal buttresses to gable. Small cusped niche in gable. Chimney pot on ridge line. 2-light window in west wall. To the west of the south porch an C18 monument set in wall below window, the inscription now largely indecipherable. C14 south doorway. North and south arcades of four bays : octagonal piers with double-chamfered arches. Tower arch on half-piers; eastern corner buttresses of tower project into nave. Single framed nave roof with scissor bracing; chancel and aisle roofs C19 with roll-moulded principals and boarded ceilings. Chancel screen much restored but retaining C15 work, notably the carved middle rail. Chancel stalls with figure carving. C14 piscina and triple stepped sedilia in south wall of chancel, all with crocketted ogee heads. Piscina with cusped arch in south aisle. Painted consecration cross in south wall of aisle. Stoup by south door. Some C15 poppyhead bench ends in nave with animal carvings. C13 octagonal font with two shallow pointed arches in each face, large central stem and eight plain shafts.
