Details
TM 1244 SPROUGHTON 6/33 Prync's Lodge - II House. Probably C16 origins, much remodelled C17, extended 1880 and later C20. Timber framed, rendered, plaintile roof, gabletted to left, hipped to right. Formerly 2 cell lobby entrance plan, the entrance now blocked and replaced by a window. 2 storeys. 3 C20 timber casements to ground and first floors. Mid C17 axial brick stack of 4 partly engaged rectangular shafts. One storey addition of 1880's to left, with present front door. C20 lean-to to right and rear extension. Interior - Ladder stair in position of former stairs to front of stack. C17 brick stack with original bressummer. 2 1st floor fireplaces with brick cambered arches. Ground floor left hand return has blocked diamond mullion window. Bridging beams carved in Jacobean manner formal and abstract designs, that to left with inscription Honor the Prync.
