Parnell House, Streatham Street, Camden Town, Greater London
This block of artisans'(workers) flats was built in 1849. It was designed by Henry Roberts for The Society for Improving the Condition of the Labouring Classes. They were originally known as Streatham Street Buildings. They are the earliest surviving example of flats to provide accommodation for the "deserving poor" in regular employment. The interiors were replanned around 1985. A band at 2nd floor level is inscribed "MODEL HOUSES FOR FAMILIES"
