This piece of embroidery shows 2 scenes. One shows what could be a slave ship. The other is the inside a house or possibly a church. It is in the style of a sampler. Samplers were usually worked by girls learning to sew. They sometimes included letters of the alphabet but could also show events and scenes from a person's life. The story behind this embroidery is a mystery.
