Coal drops near Soho Engine Shed, Soho, Durham

A range of coal drops dating from around 1856. The 100 metre long line of arches with spaces below were used to store coal for fuelling railway locomotives. The coal was dropped in from above. They stood near the railway station complex of the Stockton and Darlington Railway and the Soho Engine Works.
