Battersea Power Station, London
Built in 1937 by Sir Giles Scott, its towers have become a landmark on the south bank of the Thames. When it finally ceased operation in 1983, alternative uses were sought; none have yet been found and the building remains an empty shell. It is photographed here soon after closure when most of the outbuildings had been demolished.
