14-22 Barkham Street, Wainfleet All Saints, Lincolnshire

This terrace of 10 houses was built in 1847 by Sydney Smirke. They were built for the Bethlem Hospital, in the style of similar tenements belonging to the same body in Southwark, London. Bethlem Hospital was a psychiatric hospital and prison built between 1811-15. It too was extended around this time by P Hardwick and Sydney Smirke. These houses were presumably to house similar patients in Lincolnshire.
