Description

The collection comprises 398 black and white photographic negatives, dating from c1900 - 1930. The photographs include images of manor houses, country houses, cathedrals and parish churches, as well as street scenes, and views of bridges, tithe barns and almshouses. Geographically the collection covers most of the country, although the majority of the images show subjects in the south, with a large set showing Avebury Manor in Wiltshire. There are also thirty-one unidentified views.

The Right Honourable Judge Konstam was born Edwin Max Kohnstamm in 1870. He died in 1956. His photographs were donated to the Archive in 1943. The majority of the negatives were incorporated into the main negative run, but 98 were not and remain unnumbered.
