Maker Heights Barracks Block, Maker-with-Rame - Cornwall (UA)

Built 1804-1808 as a barracks for a line of earlier redoubts built to protect Devonport Dockyard in 1782. The two-storey block was altered in the mid C19 when the formerly tile-hung first floor was rebuilt in brick. It is the most complete small garrison barracks from this significant period. Partially repaired and in use as a community art centre. A scheme of window repairs has been undertaken with Historic England grant aid with another scheme of basement repairs scheduled for completion in 2020. The slate roof is now showing signs of distress and needs renewal.
