Lansdown Cemetery and Beckford's Tower - Bath and North East Somerset (UA)

A cemetery consecrated in 1848, incorporating features of a former pleasure ground and ride created by William Beckford and the architect Henry Edmund Goodridge in c1825-7. Key design features have been neglected and are in declining condition including the Grotto Tunnel. The landscape has become fragmented as a result of different ownership. Beckford's Tower (II*) has also been placed at risk. The Beckford Tower Trust have secured funding via the Natoinal Lottery Heritage Fund (2019) and private donation (2021) for restoration works and acquisition of the paddocks and grotto.
