Seamen's Mission, Mill Dam, South Shields, Tyne and Wear

This seamen's mission was built in 1908. Missions provided cheap food and shelter for sailors. Many of these were established by religious groups who were concerned about the reputation for drunkenness and lewd behaviour that sailors often had.
