Remains of Almshouses, Tong, Shropshire

These are the ruins of medieval almshouses. They were founded in 1410 by Dame Isabel, widow of Sir Fulk Pembridge. They were for 13 poor people. In the 19th century, Mr. George Durant, the owner of the Tong estate removed the almshouses. He only left one old outside wall standing. This is what can be seen today.
