Oakley, Buckinghamshire

The village of Oakley with people posed. The village pub is on the right, possibly the Royal Oak. The parish is in the west of Buckinghamshire, adjoining the boundary with Oxfordshire. During the First World War 23 boys from the village gave their lives for their country. This included four brothers named Measey. Charles, Frank, George and Thomas were the sons of Joseph and Martha Measey of The Royal Oak. This photograph was taken as part of the Victoria County History project.
