Huskisson Memorial, Newton Le Willows, Merseyside

The Huskisson Memorial is on south side of the railway, in a cutting, 60m from Parkside Road. It was put up in 1831 and is made from painted stone. It was put here in memory of W. Huskisson, Liberal M.P. for Liverpool who was killed here, by a train, during the opening celebrations of the Liverpool and Manchester railway in 1830.
