Higher Flax Mills, Castle Cary, Somerset

A loom stands in the upper warehouse at Higher Flax Mills. Many of the buildings on this site were built by T S Donne from 1870 onwards for the manufacture of twine and horsehair rope. John Boyd Textiles, the current occupier, claims to be the last company in the world producing horse-hair cloth with traditional powerlooms.
