Burrell traction engine at the White Hart, Costessey, Norfolk
One use of traction engines was as mobile power units. They were also used for heavy road haulage. This example, photographed outside the White Hart inn, is Burrell of Thetford no 3607, a 7 nhp (nominal horse power) traction engine supplied in August 1914 to W Last of Church Farm, Occold, Suffolk. Kelly¿s Directory of Suffolk for 1916 describes Mr Last as a farmer and threshing machine owner.
