British Gas Research Station, Longbenton, Tyne and Wear

Gas research station designed in 1965 by Ryder and Yates and built in 1966-67. The building was designed from the start to be both flexible and extendable, and this has been done several times in it's history. The Architects Journal of 24th Apri1 1968 describes it as 'A building of great purity of form and considerable architectural subtlety'.
