Brickyard Cottages, Bosworth Road, Measham, Leicestershire

This building was reputedly a brick drying shed. It was built in c1800. It has now been converted in to a range of cottages. It is said to have been the brickyard where Wilkes produced the Measham gobs. Joseph Wilkes brickworks was established in Measham in c1748. It was known for the production of oversized bricks known as `Wilkes Gobs'. These bricks can be found in the fabric of contemporary buildings in the area, including this one.
