Bow Bridge Works, King Richards Road, Leicester
The front entrance of the factory of Messrs Archibald Turner, formerly known as Bow Bridge Mills. The factory dates back 1825. The front facade of this factory is not typical of Georgian architecture but looks more like a Gothic style. It was probably built for wool and worstead manufacture. It was later used for the production of elastic web, an offshoot of the local hosiery industry. This is one of a series of photographs taken to record factories in Leicester at this time.
