Blackfriars (south range), Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear

This building was originally part of a Dominican Friary, founded in c1239 and dissolved in 1538. These surviving buildings were later used as company halls and almshouses. After an extensive programme of excavation they were restored in 1978-81 and are now used as a restaurant, workshops and tourist information centre.
