Fragments of decorative carved stone in the museum at Black Gate. There are crosses and Celtic designs. The museum was located in the gatehouse of the castle. The gatehouse was built in the mid-13th century with early 17th century alterations. It was restored in 1883 for the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle. Their museum moved from this building in 2009 although their library is still there.
