Berry Pomeroy Castle, Berry Pomeroy, Devon
Berry Pomeroy Castle combines a Tudor courtier's mansion with a 15th-century castle. The gatehouse and curtain wall are part of the earlier castle, while the mansion, with its many windows, towers above the defences to the right. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
