Barges, Gloucester Docks, Gloucestershire

The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal was begun in 1794, but was not completed until 1827 due to several financial problems. It was built to shipping standards, which meant that seagoing vessels could use it, not just the small barges seen here that frequented many of Britain's inland waterways.
