Barden Tower, Barden, North Yorkshire

These are the ruins of a late 15th century tower house built by Sir Henry Clifford. His main home was Skipton Castle and this was probably used a hunting lodge. According to an inscription it fell in to ruins in around 1589 and was repaired by Lady Anne Clifford in 1658-9. After her death it was taken over by the Earls of Cork. It again fell into decline in the late 18th century. It is now just ruins.
