Alton Towers, Farley, Staffordshire

Alton Towers in Staffordshire was the creation of the 15th and 16th Earls of Shrewsbury. It was built in the first half of the 19th century as a monument to Catholic Romanticism. The house is now in ruins and lies on the site of a theme park.
