82-102 Knightsfield, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

These flats, maisonettes and houses were built in 1955-56. They were designed by the architects Louis de Soissons, Peacock, Hodges and Robertson. The whole scheme represents one of the most distinctive postwar designs by de Soissons. It takes the tradition of the elegant, simplified Georgian style of the Garden City into the designs of a New Town run by a Development Corporation. The scheme is effective both in terms of its design and its improvement to the townscape.
