SJ2977 HIGH STREET, Neston Town 794-1/6/68 (West side) Hearse house north-west of Church of St Mary and St Helen

GV II

Hearse house, now used for storage. c1875. Probably by J Francis Doyle. Rock-faced red sandstone with ashlar dressings; slate roof with red tile ridge cresting, stone copings and gablet kneelers. EXTERIOR: single storey on high plinth with weathered plinth band; 3 bays. Gabled entrance front has vertically panelled double doors in 2-centred moulded arch: above are three stepped squat lancets over weathered sillband. Left return has three equally spaced lancets with weathered sillband: right return has no openings. INTERIOR: not inspected. Part of a significant group round the Church of St Mary and St Helen. Included for group value.
