Includes: Nos.88, 89 AND 90 WESTERN ROAD. Terrace. c1850-60, alterations to Nos 59-61 1886/7, subsequent alterations. Stucco over brick, some facades roughcast, roofs concealed behind parapets. Terrace on hillside. Mixed 3 and 4-storeys over basement, 2-window bow frontage, square-headed sash windows with heterogenous collection of glazing bars, some casements with leading, a few blind boxes surviving, moulded parapet, moulded cornice, cast-iron balustrade to first floor windows, pilaster doorcases, variety of doors. Nos 59-61 embellished with rounded corners to window openings in moulded surrounds, fluted pilaster quoins with composite capitals, dentil cornice to second and third floors, fluted string between first and second storeys; similar detailing to south return of No.59, which has as its ground floor Nos 88, 89 & 90 Western Road; Nos 88 & 89 have single-fronted shops with original glazing, panelled plinths, and doorway surrounds similar to window surrounds above. Cast-iron railings and walls returned from entrance to road frontage, some tessellated pavements.
