Details

ST JOHN'S ROAD 1+ 1082 Barn to the south west of St John's Farmhouse (formerly listed as St Mary's Barn) TL 5380 4/54 23.9.50. 1 GV 2. Originally possibly the C13 chapel of St John the Baptist attached to the Hospital of St John and turned to secular use after the hospitals of St John and St Mary were united in 1240. A stone rubble building with 4 lancet stone dressed high level windows on the north front (blocked), with moulded reveals. There is a C13 pointed arched doorway (blocked). Above the doorway is a carved stone, much weathered, with the representation of a man with a horn and an ox. It is said to be of Saxon origin. AM.

No1 (St John's Farmhouse) Dovecote, Wall & barns to the north & South west of the farmhouse, Nos 2 to 20 (even) & Nos 2 to 12 (even) & No 16 (West End PH) West End form a group.
