NUNEATON AND BEDWORTH ARBURY ROAD (South side) Stockingford North Lodge, Arbury Hall

(Formerly listed as: North Lodge)


Entrance lodge. Mid/late C18, with later additions to rear. Sandstone rubble. Plain-tile roofs and brick stacks to rear. Gatehouse of 2 round towers and large 4-centred arch with 3 small openings above. 4-centred windows. Towers have small leaded lancet to each floor, string course to upper part, and plain parapets. High walls to left and right. To rear, towers have 4-centred doorways and ribbed doors facing drive. 2-light windows with Y-tracery, and lancet above. Ranges beyond have small lancet. Further ranges, probably C19, have 2-light casements and single lights above. Interiors not inspected. (VCH: Warwickshire, Vol IV, p174; Buildings of England, Warwickshire, p71)
