The transfer of local authority heritage assets

English Heritage and a number of other organisations in the heritage sector have joined forces with the Asset Transfer Unit (based in the Development Trusts Association - now known as Locality) to pool their experience. The result, Pillars of the Community, is a new web-based guidance document aimed at both local authorities and community organisations. It will also be relevant to transfers from central government and other public sector bodies.
It is accompanied by a summary version and a number of case studies which provide real life examples of exactly what can be achieved.
English Heritage is revising this publication to ensure all references are up-to-date. In the meantime, we believe this document still contains useful advice, information and case studies.
